What is the discourse academy?
The discourse academy is starting small - just a one person operation at the moment. But the ambition is to become a resource that is run along cooperative principles - I want the discourse academy to be the change I want to see - owned by the people who do the work to produce it and accountable to members who use it.

I am Dr Michael Farrelly. I am a critical discourse analyst with many years experience of teaching, researching, developing and theorising both critical discourse analysis, and critical policy discourse analysis.

My expertise is in critical discourse analysis and critical policy discourse analysis. Having gained a PhD in CDA with Norman Fairclough and Ruth Wodak at Lancaster University, I worked in UK universities as a researcher and senior lecturer in discourse for 20 years and have published widely on CDA and CPDA.
Now, I want to teach, coach, and mentor researchers and students across the world who want to use critical discourse analysis and critical policy discourse analysis in their own work - at whatever level and from whichever background they might come from. Hence, I created the Discourse Academy.
I co-host a podcast - Language & Power - in which Tom Bartlett and I apply CDA to a whole range of topics and meet some very interesting guests to discuss their work and understanding of discourse in a plethora of research work.
